This park protects the Giant Forest, which boasts some of the world's largest trees, the General Sherman being the largest measured tree in the park. Other features include over 240 caves, a long segment of the Sierra Nevada including the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States, and Moro Rock, a large granite dome. Our goal is to make pet rules of the National Park easy to follow. Below are the dog and pet rules for the park. Please use them as a guide and remember to contact the park for questions you may have prior to your trip and as always, if you have a suggestion, please comment below or contact us directly.
Leash Laws: Most parks require dogs to be on a leash in some or all areas, however, some parks allow dogs off leash in certain locations, please consult the parks website before going off leash, Thank you!

If you can’t even bring your dog on a leash outside in nature, then where can you bring them? I find your rules around dogs to be overreaching. I won’t be able to enjoy the splendid beauty of my National Park! Yes these parks were meant to be enjoyed by We The People! When I was a child we brought our dog to all the parks, we followed the leash laws and picked up any waste our dog made. This was before dog poop bags we just used recycled vegetable bags from the grocery store. We are coming to the area now with our dogs and it’s too late to cancel our hotel reservations.
