Countless Minnesota hiking trails traverse a variety of scenery. There are short, easygoing trails for day hikes, and more rugged, long-distance paths for backpacking adventures. Many of the best hiking and walking trails are found in Minnesota at Chippewa and Superior national forests. Some have designated backpacking campsites. The crown of the collection is the Superior Hiking Trail, a 310-mile wilderness backpacking footpath overlooking Lake Superior.
